Can I copy the layout of Any Website?

Prashant asked:

Hi,

I want to know that can I copy the layout of websites like Flickr, Yahoo, or Specially Digg. Is there any legal issues, or anything. Specially i am really impressed with digg, i just want my new website’s header and layout will be like digg, my website topic is not social bookmarking, its different from Digg.

Please tell me.

  1. i guess, i’m not sure though if this would work out with all websites, i think, this will only work on HTML based webs

you just click on the View toolbar on your web browser and select Page Source(Firefox) or Source (Internet Explorer i think). A notepad or something appears and you can copy it, but not only the layout though, even the contents….. you’re actually gonna copy the whole website. . . bad idea

  2. Yes there are legal issues. If you look at the bottom of the web page, in small print you will see a copyright. That means they own that design. You can, and most like would, be sued for copyright infringement.

you can use a free layouts, which you can find here :

If you take the html code from a website it’s won’t work propperly, so better you usea free template, edit it and do what you want to with.
