In theory, this could be an effective SEO tactic. It's not much different from people who make free WordPress templates that include a link to their page at the bottom ("Designed by Tom @"). However, I don't think this will work very well for you because, to be honest, the social bookmarking "industry" is pretty saturated. Why are people going to suddenly start using your service when there are more established services like Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, Netscape, etc. out there already? The idea of providing people with a free tool that will link back to your client is not necessarily a bad idea, I just don't think creating a new social bookmarking service is the way to do it.
